God’s Church Reaching Out

November 17, 2011

Luis got up to share his excitement about joining ACTS, a disaster agency relief dedicated to assist the volunteers currently in Haiti as well as contributing to the slow rebuilding process. He was joined by people like Evelyn who’s parents escaped Austria and found refuge in Haiti in the 1940’s. Haiti is Evelyn’s home as well as others who happen to have come to the House of Prayer Experience. They surrounded Luis who represents many other people who have given their time and energy to Haiti’s disaster relief and are preparing to leave for the ravaged country this coming weekend.

There was a moment of laughter as Luis describes his creating a quilt for the occasion. He thanked the Prayer and Square team for their pointers. He had even sown in a Haitian flag made out of silk cloth in the middle of his creation which you may see below.

Please keep Luis and the ACTS team in your prayers, and watch for future updates on his trip!

A New Attitude of Gratitude

June 16, 2010

House of Prayer family focused on gratitude as a way of increasing their awareness to the dynamic presence of God. Beverly with Pastor Powell by her side, spoke of God’s intervention with her health. Life is far from perfect, but they could praised God because she could stand and speak of God’s goodness in her life.

Gloria said thank you because God opened doors that allowed her to work within her passion, and use art to inspire people to turn to Him.

Bodil invited her new friends who are a married couple serving with the Salvation Army (pictured below).

They have dedicated their lives to community service and mission work outside of the US. The people of H.o.P.E said a special prayer of blessing for them! It was their first time at House of Prayer and they were gifted with a quilt for the four year old girl they are bringing from Haiti in a couple of weeks. The little one had lost all of her teeth, but no adult has taken the time to tell her that they would grow back in a few years. Her adopting new mom told her that God would give her new teeth soon and the idea of a new smile gave this child something to look forward to!

The meeting had ended, but prayers for healing and sharing of stories on God’s goodness continued a while longer…

We say thank You for today’s blessings, and we say thank You by faith that in God, there is something good to look forward to.

See you at the House of Prayer!
