Praying for Disaster First Responder Teams to Haiti

Monday January 18, 2010

Be merciful to me, O God,
Be merciful to me!
For my soul trusts in You;
And in the shadow of Your wing I will make my refuge,
Until these calamities have passed by.
-Psalm 57:1

Medical Doctors Daniel Amponsah, Eli Kim, Chantal Grant,Joseph Kimm Jesus Lopez,Jason Shives,Phuong Nguyen, Nurses Charity Ampohnsah and Chantal Grant and Spiritual Care specialist, Pastor Sabine Vatel left for Miami where several flights were scheduled to leave for Haiti. Pastor Sabine was contacted by the director of the Disaster Relief organization. She had tried reaching him and had been praying about how she could help. She referred Mr. Canther to Dr. Shives who in turn sent messages to his colleagues. The physicians and medical residents jumped at the opportunity to serve!

The first responder’s medical team brought with them triaged bags of medical supplies that were much needed for their set up of clinics near Port-Au-Prince.

Please pray for these young people and others from Florida churches and all around the world who are lending their skills to help save lives and bring hope to the people of Haiti.

Haiti: How Can We Help?

*

ADRA: We are not all able to go on location, but there are several things we can do such as donate monies. Click on HERE to find recent updates on emergency responses.

FLORIDA CONFERENCE of Seventh-day Adventists: Several of your churches in the surrounding Central Florida will become drop off sites for collecting items to be sent directly to the people of Haiti. A group of church members and pastors will go the the country to insure that non perishable food and medical supplies will go directly to those in need. More information HERE

ATCS: We need Physicians, PA, Nurses and medical help…skilled individuals who are willing to go, leaving from Florida as soon as possible. If interested, please contact our local Community Service Director, David Canther through dm*******@***oo.com

YELE: Text the word YELE on your cell phone to 501501 to donate 5$ for the earthquake rescue fund. Updates HERE

PRAYER: I place it last not because it is the least important. It’s because it what all of us can do and should do and are doing right now. God is in the fire (Daniel 3:25) and God is there when we’re in trouble (Isaiah 43:2), and He is present in and through our bewildered prayers (Lamentations 3: 54-58).

Pastor Sabine

MAY HOPE RISE OUT OF TRAGEDY

Eternal Father, strong to save,

The earthquake’s fury has been grave,

We’ve seen the pictures, felt the pain,

Of all those caught in flood and rain.

O hear us as we cry to thee

for those engulfed in tragedy.

O Savior, whose almighty hand

protects all those in every land.

Send help and aid of every kind

grant we a way to serve may find.

O hear us as we cry to thee

may hope rise out of tragedy.

O Holy Spirit, work your art

in every place and every heart.

Stir great compassion, healing, love

pour down your blessings from above.

O hear us as we cry to thee

may hope rise out of tragedy.

O Trinity of love and power,

bless all your servants in this hour.

To bring relief, to find a way

to rebuild and to heal today.

O hear us as we cry to thee

may hope rise out of tragedy!
