PRAY ’11, DAY 8: The Local Church

Praise

Praise God for his creativity, for the manifold gifts and talents and diversity in the “Body of Christ.” Thank God for people who are willing to share themselves to be the hand, feet and heart of God in the world.

Reflect

“Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.”

-Ephesians 2:19-22

Admit (and Ask)

Lord God, we pray for a revival. Begin with our heart. Please help us remember that it is your work and for your glory, not ours. Guide us on how to share the good news of salvation and eternal life in you! Unify us in your love. Teach us how to serve and meet the needs of our neighbors. Give us a heart for people. Help us to claim the authority to teach and to disciple all people in your name!

Yield

Surrender agendas, and plans for our church to God. What has he called us to do in this particular community and at this particular time…? We are open to God as he leads us in our service to our congregation and the local community.

Amen
