God cares for you

March 24, 2010

“If it matters to you, it matters to God because you.. matter a lot to God.” Pastor Dany Hernandez shared these words of comfort to a first-time guest named Daryl.

Daryl had been “dragged” into coming to the House of Prayer by his friends. He didn’t even have “church clothes” on, he said. He was quickly reassured that it was great to have him at House of Prayer Experience. Mary and Ken who come regularly to H.O.P.E every Wednesday night had insisted he come, too. The couple felt that Daryl could use the people’s prayer: Their young neighbor had been agonizing over having his german shepperd put to sleep due to an illness. There was nothing the vet could do for the beloved two year old pet.

There were among the group those who’s heart were especially touched because they had faced a similar situation or at least owned a pet themselves. Pastor Dany shared his personal experience with how he recently had to explain the death of their beloved family dog to his daughters.

People surrounded Daryl and laid their hands on the Daryl’s shoulder who was brought to tears as Pastor Dany said a prayer for him.

Yvonne had also been saying prayers for someone close to her: Her co-worker’s young adult children had been in trouble. Parents came forward to pray for Yvonne’s friend. Pastor Sabine Vatel invited Kevin Sheirer to say a prayer for the parents who were in a similar situation or at least with deep worries about their own children.

There are those who are at the end of their own solution and need to know there is a God who cares. Just like those four people from Mark 2: 1-12 who brought their paralized friend to Jesus , we too are called to bring people to Jesus, the Source of real hope.

See you next Wednesday!

Finding room inside the House of Prayer

March 17, 2010

Joseph came to H.o.P.E at the invitation of his coworker, Ruban one wintery (as wintery as it is possible to get in Florida!) Wednesday of last year. He describes how warm his heart became in the presence of God and in the company of people who love Jesus. He has been coming to the prayer meeting ever since that night. He has also begun attending the weekend worship services at the church. Joseph is already a Christian dedicated to Jesus, but he has been thirsting for more.

Joseph shared how delighted he is to be part of a House of Prayer “that is open for… everyone!”, he added quite enthusiastically. He feels at home at H.o.P.E!

He added his prayers to Ruthie and Don’s as he asked God out loud to protect and guide Dr. Morris who is schedule to leave for Africa. Dr. Morris will be encouraging and training a group of pastors and ministry leaders over there. Please continue to keep him and our African brothers and sisters in your prayers.

Have a wonderful week, and as the Lord inspires in you the name of someone who needs to come to the House of Prayer next Wednesday, bring him or her along!

Praying for our joy …and hope for the journey:)
