Praying about Making the Right Decision

June 30, 2010

Dr. George Guthrie regularly ministers to people from behind the piano. Tonight, he used his gift for teaching God’s Word in a practical way, and shared on how to apply God’s wisdom in making wise decisions. Come back for more on what he shared with us! We’ll post it soon. Pictures for today coming soon, too.

It was great to read excerpts of letters from persons in the US and around the globe. Keep them coming and let us know* of you’re experiencing the power of prayer in your life, and how this H.o.P.E community may pray for you! We hope that you’ll join us next week (July 7) via the web for HoPE Global by clicking on this link: http://media.forestlakechurch.org/live

We rejoiced because during the last meeting, a young man named Dulcy had come forward because he wanted to know more about God and give his life to Him. It took a lot of courage, since he is naturally shy. He had come for the first time to the prayer meeting because of an invitation and has been returning ever since. Men of faith surrounded him and asked for God’s blessing for his new journey.

The people of H.o.P.E also had the opportunity to come around Bill. Lynne had invited him along with his family. His twenty year old daughter lost her mom to cancer six months ago, and is today fighting for her life with a recent diagnosis of cancer. As Bill spoke of his daughter, he said that he found courage in knowing that God is present despite this unexpected situation. He then encouraged the group to hold on to God.

We rejoiced some more because John was back! He had joined the Marines eight months ago and many in the congregation had prayed for him. He is on a two-week leave. As soon as the plane landed, he came straight “home”….to the House of Prayer.

See you at H.o.P.E and may it be like “coming home” for you, too

Praying for our joy…and hope for the journey,
Pastor Sabine

On Being Teachable

June 23, 2010

The habit of being teachable is important for anyone who wants to be growing in Christ. Surely it comes as a result of growing in Him when you and I recognize that we need Him to teach us about what abundant life is really all about, and that there is a Savior. He is our Savior.
What a fearful thought from John 5:39. We can actually study the Scriptures and totally miss the Savior?
We prayed for teachability tonight.
We prayed for one another tonight so we not miss the teachable moments in our lives.
We came forward together and prayed for those who are on our hearts tonight, and entrusted them to God’s care.

Are you burdened with something or have a heavy heart…?
Read this promise again…or for the first time:

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
-Matthew 11: 28-30

See you next Wednesday:)
Pastor Sabine
