What does it mean as the song says, to stand on God’s Promises?
What are some of the promises found in the Bible that you count on a lot these days?
The mystery of prayer is that it changes people and situations.
What happens when it seems that the promises of God are not becoming a reality in your life nor changing anything?
Was Jesus being literal when He said: “You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” (John 14:14)
The context of His words was doing God’s work. Our prayer then could be for our mind be in tuned with what God wants and focused on what best accomplishes His will on earth. As Dr. Morris reminded us today, we don’t need to wonder if God wants us to be saved or wants us to have peace or be strong in Him. On the other hand, there are promises that seem to take a long time to be fulfilled.
That’s when we are challenged to trust and…yes, wait. And trust God some more.
Friends surrounded Kevin, a young adult preparing to leave for college in a few days. He came to the House of Prayer with loved-ones and friends who supported him in his decision to belong to God. He needed help and extra prayers because of his drug addiction. In the audience, a young woman named Al witnessed his courage and her heart was breaking. Since the beginning of the meeting, Al had been pleading for God to set her free from her own addiction. She got up to help pray for Kevin and to ask for help, too.
Evelyn’s eyes were moist with tears when she too came up to show her support because she had herself been sober for fifteen years, and also because she had created the quilt being presented to Kev this evening. She hadn’t realized to whom it would be going to. Others came up to as they made a covenant to pray for Kevin and those like him who wanted to be free in Christ.
God’s healing is for you, but it is also for those who would be blessed through the new life He has given you. Remain open to His call and trust His promises for your life. In case you feel discouraged, remember God’s faithfulness towards Abraham: “And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.”-Hebrews 6:15
Praying for our joy…and hope for the journey
