P.R.A.Y. ’11: World Church and Spiritual Leaders

January 1, 2011

We pray for the Christian Church here and around the world. We ask for God to guide these institutions. We ask that God would “fan to flame the gifts” that He has placed within these spiritual leaders, so that they would be bold and courageous and wise in their leadership. We remember their families and the people who are the closest to them, and ask for spiritual protection for these leaders, for the churches or organizations that they lead and for their decisions as they plan for a new year of service. Amen.

Praise
What aspect of God’s character do you want to appreciate Him for? Is there a church or spiritual leader for whom you are particularly thankful for? Can you think of a leader or a person who has influenced you in your walk with God? Thank God for them and for their positive influence on your life.

Reflect

For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.-II Timothy 1:6-7

.

Admit
We need You, God. Thank You God that You empower those called to leadership. May these men and women who have dedicated their lives for you stay humble and receptive to Your direction. Help them to stand with integrity and give them the strength to leave behind the things that would impede their witness for You or their spiritual progress.

Yield
God, we surrender to You the names of those in leadership and the organizations that they lead, and may their accomplishments or success or manner of handling difficult times inspire others to turn to You.

In Jesus.
Amen.
