‘Passionate Spirituality’ Comes Alive

August 12, 2009

The focus was on Jesus as the people of H.o.P.E sang and reflected on the the meaning of His presence in their lives, and their need for Him today.

Prayers went up on behalf of the families who have lost their beloved ones this week and even that day: Beloved Mel and Maria are among those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. Despite the grief, there was hope:
Dr. Morris had the opportunity to personally share the promises of Scripture with Mel and his family.

There is power in the Word of God. The disciples on the road to Emmaus felt their passion for God burn within as Jesus opened up the truth about Himself from Scripture. -(Luke 24:32)

We too can have an alive, passionate spirituality as we leave distractions behind and expose our minds to the Bible’s transforming power.

You can encourage others by sharing how you ‘expose your mind’ to the God’s Word and the effect this has had on your prayer life when you do. Share by writing to FACEBOOK’s ‘house of prayer experience’ group or sending a note to prayer@forestlakechurch.org

Praying for your joy…and hope for the journey.

G.P.S: When We Pray For Vision

August 5, 2009

We have received positive responses from people who are tuning into House of Prayer Experience once per month via internet.

Lin says she appreciated having it available online after a long day at work. It was a refreshing moment for her to see people share their stories, and Dr. Morris’s facilitating prayer times along with Kathy Perno, Dr. Guthrie and the dedicated praise team.

I was also reminded of how H.o.P.E involves a wide variety of Spirit filled people: Jackie Curran with the Florida Living Retirement Center’s Seniors helped put together hundreds of H.o.P.E invitation. Young adults and teens invited their friends to come on Wednesday night!

The result: a sanctuary filled with individuals of various backgrounds opened to experience the miracle of a praying community.

In the next few weeks, we’ll be praying about the vision that moves us forward as a community of believers. ‘GPS’ is an easy way for us to remember that the vision is where we are headed: let’s be a people for whose lives ‘Passion for God, Passion for People and Passion for Service’ is lived out for real.

Praying for your joy…and hope for the journey!
